In honor of this weekends release of the Harry Potter prequel, fantastic beasts and where to find them, I had to make a cocktail in celebration of this occasion for muggles and magic folk alike!
I decided to create a love potion, which, according to magic law smells different to everyone, I always remember Hermione Grainger’s smells of freshly mown grass, fresh parchment and peppermint. Sadly as a mere muggle my potion blending skills aren’t quite up to this level but I have created a floral fresh and simply divine love potion inspired concoction.
I have used Hendricks Gin, fresh cucumber topped with Fentimans Rose Lemonade and garnished with petals. Its easy to make and is fresh, fragrant and floral.
Fentimans Rose Lemonade
Rose Petals (to garnish)
In a shaker muddle about 5cm of cucumber, once mushed add a dash of sugar syrup and 50ml of Hendricks gin.
Top with ice and shake vigorously for around 15 seconds. Double strain into a pre-chilled glass.
Top with Rose Lemonade, Garnish with a rose petal and a thin slice of cucumber.
Note: Although I have used a coupe type glass, this recipe can be easily adapted to a long drink, simply use a highball glass and top with Rose Lemonade.
